Greetings.
As you can probably tell...there's not been a lot of action here at RBU. In fact the truth is...there has been NO action.
When I sent out requests for submissions for January 2012's edition wherein the topic was '5 writing resolutions for 2012' I truly expected to get some responses because, quite frankly it was sort of a 'no brainer' sort of topic. As bloggers I've no doubt we all have 5 things we'd like to see happen with our blog or perhaps with other writing with which we're involved.
But sadly, we didn't receive any...as in NOT ONE SINGLE SUBMISSION. I knew the luster of RBU had faded a few months back but I honestly thought that with the coming of 2012 and such a simple sort of topic that there would at least be a nibble or two.
However, as I said...there was nothing.
So after thinking about it I came to a conclusion with many different routes of thinking. First, perhaps many of our members weren't 'members' so much as they were people who wanted to be able to say they belonged to 'a blogging guild' of sorts but didn't want to do more than simply belong. Second, maybe several of our members lost their spark for blogging and just sort of signed off from the blogging world. And third, possibly those bloggers who were ardent supporters of RBU saw their blogs (or other writing) take off and simply didn't have time to devote to a thoroughly nonprofit, purely for the fun of it, site that was designed as a a place where members could challenge their writing chops in ways they might not get to on their own sites.
But it makes no matter what the reasons may or may not have been, as I've finally come to the conclusion that I cannot continue to beat this dead horse. RBU was terrific while it lasted and for me...I'll always be a member in my heart!
And by the way, these are MY 5 BLOGGING RESOLUTIONS FOR 2012...
1. Be more consistent in my posting.
2. Try video blogging
3. Try to get noted Southern women to agree to brief, relaxed interviews.
4. (Non blogging but still writing) Get my book "Fly Home, Earli Byrd" online by June.
5. (Same frame of mind) Get my book "Alden: The Journey To and From" online by August
There you have it. See. It wasn't difficult. It took me all of about 3 minutes to jot them down.

And who knows, maybe...one day RBU (2.0) will resurface and be even better than it was before.

I must comment you for the great work you did with the RBU. God bless you!.
I think RBU somehow missed the trend, social networking has taken over.
I have a suggestion in case if you plan to reboot.
Why not use this blog as a place to prompt posts and let people write and post on their blogs, and then leave there links here (there should be a linky tool) so that people can visit there blogs and comment on their blogs. I mean blog hops, memes or whatever you call it.
We could connect with other groups too.
I don't have so much time to blog regurlarly, but I could help in some ways.

I feel so bad that the blog is down. I really appreciated reading the post featured here. I had began to neglect my blog is early 2012 due to health issue. Cancer was one of my major scares. All is well at the moment, THANK GOODNESS! But it played a major roll in being depressed about life. Now that I am finally getting myself together, excited about expecting a new baby, YOU GUYS ARE GONE! However, I understand your position. I just want you to know that I appreciated the platform you gave to people like me to write about things I wouldn't normally write about. I will miss you all. Thank You.
