Footprints

Footprints

Some people never make their way out of depression.  But I am one of those people who have made their way out of it, and I am thankful for going through it.  It has taught me that:
"Everything happens to you for a reason and a purpose. The moment one recognizes this, life changes.  To gain this knowledge seems to require thinking back to some of the most difficult and terrible times in your life and how, if they didn't happen, you wouldn't be where you are today, who you are today, and who you will become tomorrow."
It has also taught me that circumstances are not there to run you down, but to make you a stronger person.
During those hard times, I remember looking at myself in the mirror and asking, ‘why me?’, ‘who am I?’ and ‘why am I here?’  My mind was too clouded to find the answers to my questions.
Then I came across this question on a forum:  ‘What exactly do you see when you look into the mirror?’  I went and took a seriously second look at myself in the mirror, and saw:
A woman who has gone through a lot of ups and downs in life and is determined never to back down, a woman who still gives herself good credit even if the world says she is not good enough; a woman who loves to learn new things every single day; a woman who has realized she has got no duplicate on the face of this planet; and, a woman who has a vision of what she wants to achieve and is on a mission to fulfill that vision.  I saw me!
One of my missions is to leave my footprints on the hearts of people in this life’s journey of mine.  Footprints of kindness, love, peace, happiness and joy. A footprint that will forever be remembered.  A footprint that will (positively) tell the world that; I WAS HERE!

And I'm sure that you have already achieved that goal so you had better start thinking of a new one :-)

The only thing I see when I look in the mirror is someone that needs to cut back a bit on the pies!

Beautiful, Luchi! I'm sure you've already left many such footprints, and will continue to do with your firm will and kind heart.

Really inspirational piece. More of us should try and leave positive imprints on other people's lives. Imagine how different the world would be if everyone took the time to make this effort.

I appreciate all of these thoughtful words shared in this post and also your mission: "One of my missions is to leave my footprints on the hearts of people in this life’s journey of mine. Footprints of kindness, love, peace, happiness and joy"

Amen to your mission.

You have left footprints on my heart with your words. I have seen that person in the mirror. I found the same result. Your words brought memories of my turn to look in the mirror. Thank you from a put together Humpty Dumpty who likes the image in the glass.

May your footprints last much longer than the footprint in a water puddle.

Aww! thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone. I was a bit nervous about this post because I'm serious about this. From Ist of September, I will start a new phase of my life, in line with my mission. I'm switching profession, from a Microbioligist to a Professional Nurse.

Thank you RBU!.

Some lovely words and phrases. More important is the message that comes across. And the picture...what a way to sum it all up.
Thank you.

This really resonates; it's powerful when one can go from feeling like fading into the background of one's own life to wanting to leave a noticeable imprint in the lives of others. Your new profession is going to make an impact every single day--many blessings as you pursue this calling!
